The IBPS has been entrusted with conducting the online test by Canara Bank. This institute, well-known for administering banking recruitment tests, also organises the Canara Bank PO exam. Applicants will be invited to the next round of the selection process solely based on their performance in this test.
Canara Bank PO Selection Process
Candidates for the Canara Bank PO post will be chosen through an objective test, a group discussion, and an interview. The IBPS will administer the online test in the format mentioned above.
The Bank will choose the lowest cut-off mark for each subject, and the Canara Bank will also determine the overall score. To be selected for Group Discussion and the Interview, each candidate must achieve the minimum overall score in addition to the minimum score in each topic.
Candidates who score sufficiently high in the order of merit in the online test based on the cut-off marks chosen will be shortlisted based on the number of vacancies that the Bank publishes while releasing the notification for Canara Bank PO. Shortlisting of the entrants will be done on a 1:3 ratio, which means that three candidates will be chosen for a group discussion and an interview for each post.
Group Discussion (GD) & Interview
The overall score for both the GD and the interview is 50. In the GD and PI, candidates from the general category must score at least 40%, while those from the reserved category must score 35%. Correspondingly, the online test, GD, and PI are given 50:20:30 weightings.
Those candidates will be invited to enrol in the PGDBF course once they get the minimum marks required for their category and meet the prescribed cut-off. To work as a PO at Canara Bank, candidates must complete the PGDBF course.
If two or more applicants have the same merit order score, the older candidate will be higher. Candidates must enrol in the course at the designated institution and be admitted based on merit and preference. In this case, the Bank’s decision will be final.
