Hiranyakashipu prohibited taking the name of God in the state. Yet, Hiranyakashipu’s child Prahlad was a follower of Vishnu. The fact that his child was a follower of the very God he despised provoked Hiranyakashipu. He tried to kill Prahlad several times, but unfathomable miracles saved him every single time. After seeing hiranyakashipu’s relentless and futile efforts for killing Prahlad, Hiranyakashipu’s sister, Holika, hatched a plan to get rid of Prahlad.
Holika, sister of Hiranyakashipu, had the shelter of not getting scorched in the fire., a shawl gifted to her by lord Brahma. When Hiranyakashipu requested Holika sit in the fire with Prahlad in her lap, she agreed. Yet, when she sat in the fire, another one of those life-saving miracles happened, and Holika got singed, and Prahlad made due, yet again, saving his life. Furthermore, from that point forward, Holika Dahan began being done in the memory of Prahlad, the enthusiast of God. which will be celebrated in March this year.
