The Institute of banking personnel selection has released the IBPS PO exam notification, noting the eligibility criteria, age limit, education qualification, and attempts that come under it. 

IBPS PO eligibility criteria depend upon the age limit, education qualification and some other requirements by the institute. The candidates need to know more about the exam and then apply for it with their eligibility. 

Candidates aged 20-30 are eligible to apply for IBPS PO. Candidates should have completed a graduate degree from a recognised university.

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

According to the official notification released by the IBPS, a candidate must be.

  • A Citizen of India 
  • A Subject of Nepal 
  • A Subject of Bhutan 
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to permanently settle in India 
  • A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.

Note: Any candidates who belong to the subject of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugee and a person of Indian origin should possess and produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the government of India whenever asked by IBPS.

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

A candidate in the age group of 20 to 30 years is eligible to apply for the post—the details related to the date for calculation are in the official notification. Depending on the category covered below, there are also various relaxations in the age limit.

  1. The relaxation in the upper age limit to SC/ ST/ OBC candidates is allowed on a total basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation will be allowed.
  2. If any of the ST aspirants have a physical disability, then they will get an age relaxation of a maximum of 15 years for the upper age limit. 
  3. There is no upper age limit for candidates belonging to the General and Economically Weaker Section Category candidates(OBC and EWS). 
  4. Candidates need to produce original documents and photocopies during the recruitment process for age relaxation.
  5. In case an Ex-servicemen who once joined a Government job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-servicemen for his re-employment, his Ex-servicemen status for re-employment in Government recruitment ceases, and there is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in the Officers’ Cadre

Further, candidates seeking reservations under SC/ ST/ OBC / EWS and PwD must fulfil other eligibility criteria. Merely satisfying the eligibility to be appointed as Probationary Officer in Nodal banks does not guarantee the selection of the candidate.

As we already have discussed, the eligibility criteria for IBPS PO, age limit, education qualification and requirements for the exam. 

The eligibility criteria for the IBPS PO exam is as essential as a graduation degree (BA, BCom, BSc, B.Tech or as such) in any discipline from a recognised university, and the candidates should have all the documents relevant to the graduation. 

  • Candidates who are not eligible for the criteria mentioned above are not eligible for registering for the IBPS PO exam. 
  • All the candidates eligible for the IBPS PO exam need to submit all the documents in a relevant manner.
  • And the submitted documents must be original and must have scanned copies also.
  • The candidate should pass the qualifying exam conducted by the IBPS.
  • The degree’s date will be considered the date mentioned in the mark sheet.
  • Candidates should  provide all the documents at the interview round
  • In case the candidate’s result is posted on the website of the University, and the web-based certificate is issued. A proper original certificate (signed by the appropriate authority of the University) indicating the date of passing, at the time of verification, the institute will confirm the degree.
  • In the online application form, all the candidates need to specify the percentage obtained in the Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals.
  • Candidates awarded CGPA / OGPA have to convert the same percentage into percentage and mention it in the online application.
  • It is applicable for those universities where Class/ Grade is decided based on Honours marks only.
  • The percentage arrived will be ignored, PO Reservation Policy.

IBPS PO 2022: Reservation Policy 

Candidates belonging to the reservation categories must have a look at the following reservation policy to be followed by the IBPS for the IBPS PO recruitment process:

EWS Category

Applicants who do not belong to the categories; SC, ST, OBC, and additionally, those whose family has gross annual income less than INR 8 lakhs (rupees eight lakh only) are the candidates belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). These candidates can benefit from a 10% reservation in the IBPS vacancies.

The IBPS PO applicants must keep the below-mentioned points in mind while considering themselves under the EWS category:

  • The annual income will include revenue from all sources such as salary, agriculture, business, a specific profession, etc., which the family has generated in the previous financial year. Besides, the candidate whose family possesses any of the following assets will also not be a part of EWSs (irrespective of their family income):
    • 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above
    • Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above
    • Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities
    • Residential property of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities
  • The property owned by a ‘Family’ in different locations would be clubbed while applying the property holding test to determine EWS status.
  • The term ‘Family’ will include the person who seeks the benefit of reservation, their parents and siblings below the age of 18 years, and also their spouse and children below the age of 18 years.
  • At the time of document verification and interview rounds of the IBPS PO selection process, candidates should provide the income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority in the prescribed format to benefit EWS reservation.
PwD Category

As per the government of India norms under section 34 of ‘The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016’, persons with benchmark disabilities are eligible for Reservation.

 The following categories of disabilities can avail reservation under this Act:

  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy
  • Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, and mental illness;
  • multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness in the posts identified for each disability

As prescribed in the ‘The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016’ Vacancies will be allocated for persons with benchmark disabilities

Guidelines for PwD using a Scribe

Candidates whose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any reason can use their scribe at their cost during the IBPS PO 2022 Exam.

The following rules will apply to using a scribe:

  • Candidates who have a disability and want to use their scribe will have to arrange their writer at their own cost.
  • The main thing was, the scribe arranged by the candidate should not be a candidate for the online examination under (CRP-PO/MT-IX).
  • The scribe can be from any educational background.
  • The candidate, as well as the scribe, will have to submit a suitable undertaking confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe mentioned above. At any exam stage, that scribe did not achieve any laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts. In that case, CRP tends to cancel the applicant’s candidature
  • Candidates using a scribe will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes or otherwise advised for every hour of the examination.
  • At any stage of the process, if any violation is observed, the higher authorities will cancel the candidature for CRP of both the candidate and the scribe 
  • Eligible candidates willing to use the services of a scribe in the examination have to apply for the same in the IBPS PO Application Form.
  • Any subsequent request will not be entertained.
  • The candidates who have registered for compensatory time will be allowed such concessions. Since the compensatory time given to candidates shall be system-based, it will be difficult for the test conducting agency to allow such time to candidates who have not registered for the same.

Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy Candidates

Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy candidates, where the dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of the function, will be permitted a compensatory time of 20 min per hour or otherwise advised.

Guidelines for Visually Impaired Candidates

Candidates who are Visually Impaired suffering from not less than 40% of disability will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour or otherwise advised of examinations. The facility of viewing the contents of the test in magnifying font will only be available to Visually Impaired candidates who will not use the services of a Scribe for the examination.

Guidelines for Intellectually Disabled Candidates

Candidates with more than 40% Intellectual Disability, Autism, Specific Learning Disability, and Mental Illness will be provided a compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination, irrespective of availing the services of a scribe.
